Let’s take a quick tour of the Digital Cut tool (see Figure 6.27) and spend some time
on the key elements.
Notice a track selector at the top left that is much like the one on your Timeline
(see Figure 6.28). If your deck is configured to a FireWire device, there is a single col-
umn, representing the enabled tracks in your sequence. You’ll also see a single column
if you are using a locally controlled deck. If your deck is a non-FireWire device with
RS-422 control, there is a second column of tracks in which you can select the channels
that will be recorded on the deck.
The big buttons to the right of the track panels control the digital cut (see
Figure 6.29) When you click the red button, the digital cut will begin. Much like the
Capture tool, you’ll get a blinking light (to the right of this button) when the digital
cut is in progress.
