■ WORKING WITH TRACKS: TRACK PANEL SELECTORS
Record Track Panel
The Record track panel selectors work a little differently from the Source track panel
selectors that were already described. The Record track panel indicates those tracks
that have been added to the sequence at any time. However, there are a few rules of
the game.
USING FREE DV
When you create a brand new sequence using Free DV, the Record track panel indica-
tors show filmstrip, video, audio track 1, audio track 2, and a timecode track for the
sequence (see Figure 4.3). It does not matter what the source is; they will always be
present on the Record track panel selector.
USING XPRESS PRO
When you create a brand new sequence using Xpress Pro, the Record track panel selec-
tors appear differently. In this case, video, audio 1, audio 2, audio 3, audio 4, and a
timecode track appear (see Figure 4.4). The filmstrip track is not present.

Note: The filmstrip track is a visual representation of what is inside the sequence. It cannot be edited
except by adding or subtracting footage from the video track.Other than being a visual representation, there
isn’t much you can do with it,but you can print out your Timeline by clicking on the Timeline and pressing
Ctrl+P/F+P to see thumbnails of your sequence in this track.
